Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium has launched the rain overflow chamber of Etxebarri, which has a capacity of 74,480 cubic meters (m3), which is the rain overflow chamber with the highest capacity of the Basque Country.
Tecozam was responsible for the realization of the structure which has involved the execution of more than 45,000 cubic meters of structural concrete, as well as the execution of more than 35,000 m² of formwork slab foundations, single-faced and doble-faced walls and even climbing works in height, pillars, brackets, deck slabs and stairs as well as the proper disposal of more than 15,000 ml. of gaskets of different types "Water-stop".
The rain overflow chamber of Etxebarri, installed alongside the Nervion River, opposite Bolueta neighborhood, has a height like a five-storey building and an area larger than a football field.
Rain overflow chambers are large underground tanks that have the mission to accumulate the excess water from the collectors in times of high rainfall.
